Join us for an unforgettable Mardi Gras adventure filled with delicious treats, vibrant parades, and beads galore!
Donning our stylish Mardi Gras shirts, we set off on an exciting day. Our journey begins with a Lynx bus ride to SeaWorld, followed by a switch to the 350 for a boat trip to Disney Springs. From there, we hopped on a boat to Port Orleans French Quarter, where the Mardi Gras vibes were already buzzing.
Port Orleans welcomed us with the infectious energy of Mardi Gras. We caught the tail end of the cast member golf buggy parade, a delightful spectacle featuring floats themed around parades past and present. The Main Street Electrical Parade stole the show! At the Scat Cat Cafe, we indulged in mouth-watering beignets and coffee. Powdered sugar everywhere, but oh, so worth it! A visit to the shop for Mardi Gras pins and beignet mix added to our festive haul. The Port Orleans gold buggy parade was marking its 15th year, we marvelled at the creativity displayed by the cast member departments. The floats were a nostalgic journey through the parades of yesteryear.
After returning to Disney Springs and Lyfting back to Surfside to drop off our Mardi Gras treasures, we headed to Universal Studios. The Mardi Gras food was calling, and we embarked on a culinary adventure.
A Jambalaya feast and a Cat 5 punch set the stage for our Universal exploration. From the adrenaline rush of Men in Black to the thrills of The Mummy ride, we had a blast. Refuelling with candied bacon and caramelized onion poutine plus a twisted tater with garlic and parmesan, we were blown away by the flavours. But the true highlight awaited – the famous Universal Mardi Gras parade. Standing near the Horror Makeup Show, we soaked in the vibrant floats, catchy tunes, and bead-throwing madness. Spotting YouTuber Jacob the Carpetbagger ( @TheCarpetbagger ) on a float made the experience even more exciting! Wrapping up the day, we headed back to Surfside, grabbed a delicious dinner at the cafe, and retreated to our room to unwind.
