We may have had a change of plan. We both love SeaWorld and neither of us had visited the park for at least 10 years, and we were looking forward to visiting and hitting the food festival.
BUT .. and its a big but, we have both been reading more and more that people are having issues in the park. Bearing in mind that Sharon doesn’t do big rides and there are no non trill rides as such for adults any more at SeaWorld, lots of attractions that were previously open are now closed for a total referb or being changed into something completely different. We have also read a lot of reports of staff issues, dirty park, expensive food (and its a lot more expensive than the other Orlando parks), we were trying to decide if we were going to spend our day in Sea World.
Then roll on the pre black friday sales.. Sharon received an email yesterday (9th Nov) from Attraction Tickets (where we purchased our Disney and Universal park tickets from), advertising their sale. So she went and had a look. We still wanted to do something involving the sea (Sharon needs a shark fix) and food (goes without saying) and outside the 2 big parks and we always had an idea that we would take a look at Discovery Cove (DC) prices in the black friday sale.
We looked at our Sea World date for Discovery Cove and to our surprise we managed to grab ourselves a day at Discovery Cove with a Dolphin Swim for less than our day at SeaWorld with our food lanyard would have cost. When you spend a day at DC, all of your food and drinks are included, which is lovely 🙂 We can go snorkelling, feed birds, check out the sharks and rays, see playful otters and marmosets, and swim with tropical fish. Plus there is a tropical lagoon and a lazy river – what’s not to love.
Needless to say we are both really excited. Sam spent Christmas day at DC about 11 years ago when James was small and she didn’t really have the chance to take in the whole experience as she was worried about James who was a bit of a handful back then .. so we will really be immersing ourselves in the full DC experience.
Hopefully SeaWorld will sort itself out as DC is part of the SeaWorld family, as we would both like to visit again in the future, but we can’t wait for our relaxing day at Discovery Cove.
